Title: Thoughts & Prayers Please

SuzySues - March 15, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
Do you remember I told you about Kelly's best friend & chief bridesmaid Haley last year. How we were not sure if she would be able to attend the wedding as she was so sick, but she was an absolute star on the day & was the best bridesmaid a bride could want. She never flagged & was concerned about Kelly all day. Shortly after the wedding she had to have an op to remove a couple of benign tumours from her liver & that seemed to sort her out. But then she got sick again & much worse. After lots of test's & scans she was told she had many tumours on her liver, they are hormone related, so when she wants to have a baby (which she dearly wants) they will get worse. So the tumours need to removed. As I type this she has been in surgery all day having 60% of her liver removed!! :speechlesssmiley She will then be kept in intensive care for up to a week. I have been thinking of her all day & Kelly is so woried. Please say a prayer for her or send her healing thoughts that she gets through this ok & will then get stronger & well again. She is such a sweet kind girl & a great friend to Kelly.

Haley will be in my thoughts and prayers. Prayer is a powerful thing as we have seen on this forum
May my higher power help her gain strength and give her what she needs to combat this :hugsmiley

SuzySues - March 15, 2008 09:05 PM (GMT)
Thank you hun. :hugsmiley

Well Kelly just called me, its not good news at the moment. The liver disease is worse than they thought & they need to carry on with the op tomorrow, so she is heavily sedated & stable. The only good thing is that she know nothing about it. Her partner & parents are at the hospital & are worn out with waiting. :blues:

Please keep sending good thoughts for her.

She will be in our thoughts too, I hope everything went well and she is on the road to recovery, keep us updated with how she is doing...

SuzySues - March 16, 2008 11:52 AM (GMT)
Thank you everyone for your thoughts & prayers. Chris, Haley's partner, called this morning to say she is comfortable but still sedated as they will continue her op at 2pm. I imagined they would be straight back to it this morning, but I am sure they know what they are doing. I will let you know how she is doing when I hear from Kelly later.

Thank you again. :hugsmiley

:blues: I am so sorry Sue. I hope and pray everything goes well. Prayers from Jakies house to yours Haley.

MyBoyGus - March 16, 2008 06:07 PM (GMT)
Lots of good vibes going out to Haley. Keep us informed, I keep checking back for news.

SuzySues - March 16, 2008 07:04 PM (GMT)
Kelly just called. Haley is out of surgery, all sewn up & in recovery. She is stable but still sedated & being kept in intensive care. Kelly said Chris sounded so releived on the phone. Aparently he & Haleys mum & dad were crying all last night & expecting the worse, so for her to be in recovery is such great news. Keep sending good vibes for her speedy recovery. She is still a very sick girl, as she has liver desease, but hopefully now they can get on top of that too. I have been looking at Kelly's wedding photo's today so that I could look at Haley & send her positive vibes to get her through.

Latest update is not good. Haley's body isn't responding the way they wanted. Her family have been told to stay with her tonight as she may not make it. I am in shock, Kelly was telling me this through her tears & I was telling her to try to stay calm as its not good for the baby. You feel so helpless. The poor girl has been so sick, then undergone 2 major op's in 2 days & everything has gone wrong. Please let her pull through!!

MyBoyGus - March 16, 2008 10:03 PM (GMT)
Wow, good thoughts and prayers for Haley. She was in surgery for a long, long time over 2 days.

Do you know what the actual diagnosis is for her? Send Kelley our love too, our thoughts are with you, take care of that baby.

Emma&Tilly - March 16, 2008 10:15 PM (GMT)
oh Sue, still thinking of her and hoping for the best, please pass on my best wishes to Kelzz, it must be so hard to watch a dear friend go through this, hugs to you too xx

Hoping to hear some good news about Haley today...

MyBoyGus - March 17, 2008 03:10 PM (GMT)
Any news Sue? Still hoping to hear something from you and sending positive vibes to Haley.

SuzySues - March 17, 2008 06:35 PM (GMT)
Thankyou all so much. Kelly phoned me first thing this morning & I was afraid to answer the phone, but Haley made it through the night!! She is still very sick, but is responding a little better & her blood work was a little improved too, she is still heavily sedated so has no clue what she is going through. She is undergoing dialysis this afternoon, we think to help her kidneys work, & she started breathing on her own. So little steps & a long way to go, but she is still with us & fighting.

I don't know if its because she is pregnant, but Kelly is being very negative & I am trying so hard to keep her positive. I remembered something in the middle of the night that Kelly told me. A few weeks ago when she was out with Haley, Haley brought a last will & testament form. That really upset Kelly & James, but proves Haley must have been warned of the danger of the op. But the poor girl was in so much pain that she has spent weeks at a time in hospital & drugged up on morphine. I don't know if she will now need a liver transplant, as she only has 40% of her liver & that is badly deseased. :shrug

Keep the positive thought coming, she still needs it. And thank you so much for caring. :hugsmiley

MILLER'S MOM - March 18, 2008 12:10 AM (GMT)

well thats a little better news. still praying here!! stay strong sue & kelly! :hugsmiley

Just catching up with my reading now.....please know that you, Kelly, Haley and her family are in our thoughts here in Northern Ontario Canada too....
Keeping fingers and paws crossed that all goes well with Haley. So glad to read there was some improvement. Do take good care.

SuzySues - March 18, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
Thank you all for your concern. Not much change today, but the specialist is happy with her progress, so that is good news. She is still sedated & we found out she had to have the dialysis because her kidneys had failed. We think they may have been overworking due to her liver being in such a state. She was having blood test earlier because they thought she was getting an infection, but I haven't heard any more about that. Hopefully she isn't, as that would set her back.

Haley has been out of it since Saturday morning, she has no idea of what she is going through, thank goodness. Kelly said when she is home & well she is going to tell her off for getting us all so worried!!

Yes, our thoughts and prayers are definitely with you all right now! I sure hope Haley is getting better and stronger each day!

Kelzz - March 20, 2008 02:28 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone, I have just been reading through all your kind and thoughtful posts, thank you all. Haley had a relatively good night last night, and is doing a little better each day, although she is still critical, but as Chris puts it, "she is fighting like a trooper".

She has been unconcious since saturday, so is unaware of anything that has been happening, which I think is the best thing for now. She had a lot of problems with bleeding in the initial op as her blood pressure was so high and I think that had a knock on effect with everything else. Her liver function has now improved slightly, but her kidneys are still not working, so she is still on the dialysis machine. She had had problems with her lungs, but is breathing on her own now, although they are feeding her 70% pure oxygen to help her.

She is one of the kindest sweetest people I have ever met and she really doesn't deserve all this pain. I am currently keeping everything crossed for her and thinking of her constantly. We are hopefully going to see her this weekend, although she will still be sedated, her partner Chris is James' best friend and we really want to be there for him too. As it will be easter weekend its going to be difficult to get up to London to see her as they always do rail works over bank holidays, but I'm just hoping we will be lucky enough to get there without too much hassle.

Please keep sending her your thoughts and prayers, I can't wait to be able to actually speak to her, hopefully not too long now.

Love Kelly x

SuzySues - March 20, 2008 09:19 PM (GMT)
Another update for you. When Chris went into Haleys room this morning, he said hello & she opened her eyes & mouthed hello to him!! :clap They have been gradualy reducing the sedative, so she is still really out of it, but she is back with us a little. Everything it gradualy working better, except her kidneys, which are still failing. Her liver, is back to how it was before the op. Not sure if that is a good thing as that was the reason she had the op in the first place. :shrug

Kelly & James are going to visit her tomorrow, because Kelly really needs to see her & they want to support Chris & Haley's parents. They can't let Haley know how sick she has been, as the doctors say it will set her back & have given her a drug to give her short term memory loss. They have to act as if its Saturday & she is as she should be at this stage. I am worried about Kelly going all the way up to London & dealing with all the emotion, but she want's to go & I can't stop her. We will be looking after Baxter for the day, so he will have a great time with my 2.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts & prayers. Kelly said she was overwelmed when she came in here today & saw all your post's. She said it really worked, so keep on sending your love & thank you.

Oh Sue and Kelzz, I missed this. HAve been having computer problems off and on so haven't been on here in a while! I am sooooo sorry about Haley but it seems that she is somewhat recovering now. Kelzz, I'm worried about YOU - take care of yourself and stop worring! Not good for the baby! I know its easier said than done but try to think positive thoughts. Haley wouldn't want you worring about her. I'm glad that she is making progress a little each day. She and you will be in my prayers!

Love to you both
Lynn

MILLER'S MOM - March 24, 2008 05:31 PM (GMT)

any updates sue??? :angel2:

Debbie & mason

SuzySues - March 25, 2008 11:43 AM (GMT)
Thanks Debbie. Haley is still very sick. She is still on dialysis & is having a tracioptomy (sp?) today to help her breathing as the tube in her mouth was causing her distress. She is still having good days & bad ones, but the little steps are going in the right direction. She didn't wake up when Kelly visited her & when she is awake she is really out of it. They asked her to move her legs yesturday & she did, which is great as she wasn't moving before. She has been really bloated & they still think she may have an infection somewhere. They removed a blockage in her bladder the other day & fitted a catheter which she is now using, so thats another good thing. We are not sure if that means her kidneys are starting to work on their own. :shrug

The family have made her a wall of photos to look at when she is awake. Kelly was shattered after the visit on Friday & she is going back to visit again this Saturday. I really hope Haley is awake this time. Her partner Chris & her mum & dad have been sleeping at the hospital, but have now decided to take it in turns to stay so they must think she is improving.

Thank you all for your love, prayers & positive thoughts, please keep them coming.

SuzySues - March 25, 2008 05:53 PM (GMT)
Thank you. :hugsmiley Another small update today. Her pulse & blood pressure have come down, so hopefully that means the infection is under control. And they are talking abut reducing her sedative so that she wakes up properly. That is scarey, but such a positive step!! She has basicaly been asleep for around 11 days now, it will all be very strange for her when she wakes up. She still has a long way to go & is still very sick, but she is still with us & still fighting!! :hugsmiley

Rusty's mom - March 25, 2008 09:35 PM (GMT)
I am glad to hear she is better. Good news. I hope she continues. Prayers still up for her. :hugsmiley

SuzySues - March 30, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
Kelly called me earlier & things are sounding so much better. They removed the air tube today & she is breathing alone, but she can't really speak as her throat is very sore. She is still sedated, but she seems more awake as her body is getting used to it. They may take her off the kidney dialysis tomorrow as they apear to be working ok now! :clap And they are hoping to have her out of intensive care by Wednesday!! Kelly visited her yesturday & she said she was more aware & reacted with faces at things she said. She also said it looks more like Haley now as before she was really bloated.

Kelly has finished work for her maternity leave now so she will hopefully get time to come in here & update you as I have to remember everything she has told me & probably don't get it all right. She tells it better then me.

Thank you again for all your thoughts & prayers, they really are working, please keep them coming!! :hugsmiley
