Title: I Am Sick

SuzySues - September 23, 2008 08:25 AM (GMT)
Not been around as much lately as I have something called Labtrinthitis Which is problem with the middle ear that affects you balance & when I have a bad attack it makes me vomit & all I can do is lay very still till it passes (about 6 hours!) It happened when I was in town with Kelly the other day which was very scary. She got me to a bench & called hubs to pick me up. I think people thought I was drunk. I hate being not in control & am hoping I have the type that gets better in a few weeks as some people have it for years! :speechlesssmiley I have had a bad couple of days so the doc has upped my meds which means I am pretty zonked out most of the time, I can't drive or even go out in case it gets bad. I am trying to do a bit more today as there are only so many crappie TV shows you can watch in a day! But even typing this is making me go a bit dizzy.

Speak soon my friends.

I know how you feel - I get vertigo about once per year. It will never go away.
You don't want to move, if you have your eyes open everything swims around,
if you close them everything swims around some more. Movement is out of
the question.
Your body sort of shuts down e.g. I've been in hospital with it and they couldn't
find a pulse !! And yes, they discharged me as "nothing wrong with him" ... idiots.
Yes you do lose not so much control, as the will to do anything because it
makes it worse, if that's possible. Eating is out, even water is not possible.

My attacks last about 3 days.
But ... there is a miracle cure .... STEMETIL

I carry stemetil pills and suppositories on me at all times.
But the best is a stemetil injection, it's like a 'rush' as it clears you up.

Hope you get sorted soon.

OMG Sue. Try to rest. See if you can get the stuff that GruftysDad is on
I get this only with heights as I have scar tissue on my ear drum. I cannot fly or get up on ladders or chairs.
Do they know what caused this to start?
Take care and we miss you here. How are the furbabies taking all this as you can't take them out playing?

Prayers coming your way from the Me and the GoldenFrost Kids across the pond :hugsmiley

Oh, Sue, I'm so sorry you're suffering. Our son Kevin had that several years ago. He could only sleep with the light on and had to touch the wall to keep the room from spinning. Lots of prayers for a speedy recovery.

Thank you for all your well wishes. I have felt better each day. The meds knocked me sideways at first, but I have spaced them out a bit more & am gettting used to them. I am having a nap every afternoon, which is so NOT me!! But it seems to help so I am going with it. I am trying to stay positive that it will get better. I haven't walked the dogs for a week & I really miss it. Poor hubs is doing everything, including finishing off the decorating. I am going to try to walk the dogs with him today as I need to get out. Hubs is being great I think I really scared him as he saw it all hapen.

I am glad he got over it, all the stories I read on the net are from people who say it lasts for years. But as my sister said to me, the ones that get over it quickly are not going to write & moan about it, so I have stopped reading the negative stories. Staying positive is the best way to get better. :)

Oh Sue! I am so sorry you are not feeling well. I was just today reading an article about vertigo and some causes of it. One type is caused by some type of crystals that break off in the inner ear and when the body re-absorbes them the vertigo goes away. Hoping thats what you have so it will be gone sooner rather than later.

Get better soon

Hope you get better soon!! I had a classmate who had it when we were back in secondary school. It took her a while to recover and she had to miss classes from time to time during that year. But she recovered definitely!! Hang on in there... It will go away soon!!

Thanks for that Mole, I need to stay positive.
