Last December a friend and I were supposed to take this Wilton Cake Decorating Course 1 together. She dropped out after one lesson because of some family issues. So I trudged on...

It involved learning how to decorate a cake using buttercream icing - making roses, borders, stars, etc. For the final class, we had to decorate an 8" cake with at least 5 Wilton roses, borders, etc... Here's my cake...

p/s : I do not forsee myself going for further courses on this. IT IS HARD!! Hat's off to professional cake decorators... I'll stick to eating...

:clap Wow!! I can't beleive you want to give up when you are so talented!! Its beautiful!! I bet it taste's nice too. I remember making a wonderful Barbie cake for Kelly when she was about 8. It looked fantastic on the outside, but the cake was rock hard. As I didn't have the right shape tins, I decided to bake it in the microwave in pudding bowls!!

I didnt eat the cake... I gave it to a friend. LOL... The icing is almost pure sugar and super sweet!!

Em - you should give it a try if you like it. Try the course on cake decorating using fondant. They have in Wilton Course 3 (I think). Those are so gorgeous!

Unfortunately no... I did that for the class. My usual cakes are not decorated cause I am too lazy and eat them too fast!! :jumpingsmiley1

Looks good. I know what you mean by it being hard. I took all three courses and even made my own wedding cake. I did it for awhile, but it really wasn't worth the money. It took so long and when I made a wedding cake it was so stressful. There is a great website that could help you immensely called www.cakecentral.com.
